Elisabeth Geel was born in the Netherlands and has lived for over thirty years in Italy. She is both a visual and a musical artist. As a visual artist she is mostly self-taught. She started her career as a graphic designer and illustrator for children’s educational books and advertising. Today she specializes in fine art oil painting, watercolor, and mixed media. Her influences are far ranging and include Italian Futurism, Cubism, Surrealism, Italian ex-votos and Mexican Folk Art. Music is a recurring motive in her work, which vibrates with color, humor, and subtle provocations.
